Musical Slabs: B&M

Danny is back with a bang. He didn’t really go anywhere, but it seems to me to have been a long time since he made a video. Levelling up from The Ridge (incidentally my favourite of the Macaskill videos) he’s back on the Isle of Skye taking brake control to a new level.

Filmed purely with drone and helmet cam, this video builds to a mighty crescendo. It starts off impressive and then just keeps on going. Around three minutes in, my hands were sweating more than I’d like to let on, and then around 4:30 minutes, it was time vertigo suffers to avert their eyes.

Hats off to you once again Danny.

This interview (from UK Climbing) gives a bit more insight into planning and preparation for the video. Turns out in a test run, he’d slipped on a wet rock on one of the bigger slabs and skidded down it. I can imagine that was a serious heart in the mouth moment.
