There is no bigger adventure than starting a print publication. Er, in our opinion, anyway. Of course we’d say that. Freehub Magazine is one of the most beautiful mountain bike magazines to have ever existed, and it is alive and kicking thanks to the efforts of Brandon Watts and his crew.
Jeff Kendall-Weed* went riding with Freehub Magazine’s Brandon in the stunning forests around Bellingham, USA (somewhere we’d love to ride one day), and chatted about setting up a magazine from scratch, what Freehub Magazine is all about, and how cold a ride in mid-summer can be when you are somewhere it evidently rains quite a lot.
*We first met Jeff KW when he turned up at a downhill race in Gouveia, Portugal, many years ago on one of our annual road trips to ride and race and sample the delights of that welcoming country. Coincidentally, you can read about the very first of those trips on WideOpen’s website
