Brook MacDonald has always been one of the most exciting riders to watch on the World Cup circuit. His no holds barred approach means slams are part and parcel of his riding. That said, when he went down in Mount St Anne and didn’t get back up, things didn’t look great. It was touch and go as to whether he’d walk again let alone ride.
However, he’s not called the Bulldog for nothing and this crash wasn’t going to stop him. This video documents the incredible road to recovery he travelled.
There’s no much to say here other than huge respect to Brook and his family for fighting so hard to get him back on the bike. Let’s hope the UCI and race organisers are still learning the lessons from this one. To leave a professional athlete with a potentially life changing injury lying on a hillside for hours is not acceptable and it should never have happened.
