Videos from Derby Enduro World Cup

The second round of the UCI Enduro Mountain Bike World Cup series took place on the trails of Blue Derby, Tasmania. We’re adding all the official videos from Derby enduro World Cup in this post and will update it over the coming days.

Check out the Derby World Cup results here.

Derby is a well-known and much-loved bike park a few hours’ drive from last week’s Enduro World Cup opening round in Maydena Bike Park (check out our zine report here). International enduro last visited in 2019 for the second round of the Enduro World Series – what is now known as the UCI Enduro Mountain Bike World Cup.

As you’ll see in these videos from Derby enduro and from our own course/race preview video, the rain lashed the course in the build-up to racing. Practice day was hit hard and racers had to contend with a long eight-ish hours day on the muddy trails. Luckily, they are some quality tracks and riders mostly had a grand old time out there.

The only point of contention is the long, boggy section at the end of stage six (the last stage), which has become so rutted and sticky that almost no one managed to ride it during Friday’s amateur race – everyone was forced to get off the bike and push.

Thankfully, some heroic spade work overnight made that section a bit more rideable in time for the main EDR race on Saturday. Still, with the sun out and the course drying, things got pretty pedal-intensive in the race.

Bonus Jesse Melamed video

Canyon’s Jesse Melamed always puts out a GoPro run from practice on his YouTube channel. Here’s a slice of rocky, rainy, muddy action from Thursday. By the way, we filmed a pre-season interview with Jesse recently in Dolceacqua, Italy, just down the road from our office at Finale Work Space. Here’s the vid (double bonus!):
