Bike, hike, ski, ouch: B&M

Cody Townsend is a professional skier. He used to spend his time flying around in helicopters, jumping off cliffs and generally going mad on skis. Now he generally walks really, really far to tick off one of the lines he’s chasing from the book ’50 Classic Ski Descents of North America’.

With Corona stopping usual play, he switched it up, chasing lines by bike instead. Amazingly, he persuaded Michelle Parker to join him for this video, which can only be described as a lot of suffering for a little skiing.

Having been an avid follower of this project, I’ve always wondered if we could come up with 50 classic descents for mountain biking. Where would we start? A-line? Schladming? Ashton Court Nova Trail?

While I’m sure that this could become a hotly debated corner of an obscure internet forum, it does raise the question of what makes a trail good? Radical corners, big jumps and gnarly gnar, or just the fact that it puts a smile on your face?

Side-note: We’ve been busy working on our Meltdown 2020 MTB yearbook. Phew, making books ain’t easy. It’s shaping up to be a thing of beauty, though. Coming soon.
