The record of the UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup season and World Championships
Hurly Burly 2025 is out now! Packed full of the best stories, photos and insights from the summer circus, this ninth edition of downhill yearbook is your record of a landmark season of downhill racing.
2025 was the third year Warner Bros. Discovery organised and broadcast the UCI Downhill World Cup, and the racing on show was some of the sport’s most dramatic. From junior dominance to a storybook season’s end in the men’s, and a battle of attrition played out for the women’s overall, we’re bringing you all of the season’s best stories, and answering the questions left after a summer of racing – what’s the story behind the belt drive prize money? What is it really like to live your summers out of a team bus or follow the season trackside as part of a media team?
Plus, we take an in-depth look at every race of the World Cup series in race reports, B-zone Bullets and go granular, looking at how each race track evolved over days of flat-out riding.
The Downhill World Cup visited ten venues across Europe and North America this year, pausing just short of the season for a World Championships battle in Champery, Switzerland. If you followed the season, you’ll know the headline stories – if you didn’t, Hurly Burly is your record of six months of rivalry, brilliant photos and emerging champions, featuring all of the biggest names in downhill, and the most exciting riders set to break into elites in 2026.
The photos collected in the pages of this downhill MTB yearbook are taken by some of our favourite photographers on the circuit, and longtime friends of Misspent Summers: Boris Beyer; Sven Martin and Sebastian Schieck. Their photos – classic dirt showered downhill shots and behind-the-scenes moments – make this yearbook a feast for the eyes, and the perfect mountain bike coffee table book.
Hurly Burly isn’t just a story of the summer, it is part of the history of our sport. Misspent Summers brings together some of mountain biking’s best journalists, photographers and riders in a 360-degree look at a summer of sport. If you want to take a closer look at the enduro yearbook, The World Stage, the two companion publications provide over 500 pages of UCI mountain bike race coverage.
