Misspent Summers is an international group of journalists, photographers, designers and dropouts producing mountain bike media, books, newsletters, clothing, prints, zines, stuff, things and vibes positively and responsibly.
There are several reasons why we decided to roll our sleeves up and create the books we wished already existed.
One, we thought our beloved sport needed documenting in a medium more permanent than a website. We loved making books, so that was the route we went down.
Two, we wanted to create the brand we’d like to work for. One that believed in itself and its purpose, that didn’t feel the need to outgrow its boots every six months, that wanted to just be, not be sold.
Three, to support and be loyal to the people who are out there on the front line, photographing and writing the story as it happens. To make sure they can keep on doing it for as long as they so wish.
That’s about it.
Dirt Magazine is part of Misspent Summers’ heritage, and vice versa. Everyone who runs and works for and with Misspent Summers previously founded, edited, worked for or contributed to Dirt Mag. Misspent Summers is proud to own the trademark Dirt Magazine and to protect the cultural identity and history of Dirt as founded by Chris and Mark Noble and presided over by Mike Rose until the magazine’s demise in 2015. Dirt Magazine lives on in every Misspent Summers publication online and in print.
