Peaty’s Holeshot Fast Flow Tubeless Valves – Fresh goods

FIRST GLANCE

Peaty’s freshly launched Holeshot Fast Flow tubeless valves have just dropped through the door here at Misspent Summers.

Setting up tubeless tyres has long been something of a running joke amongst my friends, as we all find it to be one of the most frustrating, messy and time-consuming tasks related to our bikes. Over the years, issues have ranged from literally crying about a tyre bead that refused to seat, to a balcony being redecorated with sealant, to bursting blood vessels trying to pump fast enough to get a tyre onto a rim. At one point, I think it took a crew of four just to remove a tubeless valve from a wheel – it simply refused to budge.

Moving swiftly on (I can already feel my stress levels rising just thinking about it). If you’re anything like me and my mates, you’ll know exactly how frustrating setting up a tubeless tyre can be. Pump harder, swear louder, question ‘what was ever wrong with tubes’ – all while the tyre stubbornly refuses to seat.

Anyway, Peaty’s says it believes that the root cause of most of our shared pain comes down to the shortcomings of the Presta valve.

Enter the Holeshot valve: after 27 iterations and a few years of World Cup testing, the team at Peaty’s reckon they’ve found a solution to the pain and frustration – and they believe in it enough to back it with a ‘Valves for Life’ guarantee.

Peaty’s says the Holeshot is fully serviceable, so clogged valves should be avoidable. With a claimed 200% more airflow (than a traditional Presta valve), getting tyres to seat should also be a whole lot easier. Twice as easy, by my calculations. Also, if you’re unfortunate enough to encounter a trail sniper (as seen on Peaty’s Instagram) and your valve gets shot clean off, Peaty’s says the valve design means air and sealant will stay exactly where they should be in the tyre, saving you from a long walk back to the car.

Less tears, less waste and more air – these small but mighty parts might just mean tyre changes no longer keep me up at night.
