From Phil:
“Well, what can I say man… It was a project of love and grit. It was one of those meant to take 2-3 weeks that turned into a 3-year project. We had to rebuild the line many, many times. Myself, Max and my lower back are very happy. Very appreciative of everyone who made it happen, thank you all. Umm yeah, it really combines all the creative things that myself, Kat and Max love. Kat’s art, Max’s creative editing and then my riding, which is quite cool. Anyway, have a look at the thing that Max wrote (below), he did a beautiful job and it really put a smile on my face. Thanks!”
From Sleeper:
“Back in 2019, I had only just taken the first steps with Sleeper. I remember asking myself a simple question: of all the riders I admired, who was the one person I’d most want to meet and create a film with? The answer was immediate, Phil Atwill. When he said he was up for it, I booked a flight to Greece without hesitation.
Flow State became my first real “professional” shoot. A shoestring budget, no safety net, just pure belief in what we were making. The passion was relentless, and Phil matched that energy every step of the way. That project became a turning point for Sleeper. From that moment on, filmmaking in this sport took me further than I ever thought possible.
I look back on Flow State with a mix of gratitude and self-reflection. It opened doors, but with time and experience came the feeling that we hadn’t quite fulfilled its full potential. After talking it through with Phil, we both knew there was only one thing to do, run it back and create a sequel that truly delivered on the original vision.
This was never about money. It was about bringing things full circle.
Three years of on-and-off shooting, setbacks, and persistence later, we finally brought it to life. I can’t thank Propain, Weldtite, and Schwalbe enough for their patience and belief in the process.
The state of consciousness known as Flow State is really the foundation of why we all ride bikes and love it so much. Its these fleeting moments we are all searching for out there on the trails, Phil embodies this pursuit perfectly. This project is a second chance to capture the feeling that started it all, and a reminder that the escape we’re chasing has always been there, waiting on the trail. Thanks for watching!
