Reece Wilson, the 2020 DH MTB World Champion and mind-bogglingly good technical rider, has announced his new downhill team for 2025: AON Racing.
Wilson and AON Racing will be riding the Swiss-made Gamux bikes for the 2025 season, powered by Gates Belt Drive and Pinion gearbox. Other sponsor and component details are emerging, but until there’s an official announcement, we’ll keep quiet (we bumped into some of the team riders at our base (Finale Work Space coworking and Misspent Summers’ Italian office) in Finale Ligure, Italy, last week so we have a pretty good understanding of the sponsors and riders signed up).
This AON Racing video by Wilson and production company Sleeper Co gives some quality insight into the process of going from racer to racer-team owner. One thing’s clear: Wilson has his head screwed on. When he dropped into our Les Gets Pop-up store and exhibition last summer, Wilson hinted at a series of meetings (there was a lot of team business going on that week) with brands and potential sponsors for the future. Well, he clearly made some smart, informed choices and seems genuinely happy with the outcome. Plus, as he mentions in the video, he has built a team of trusted people to run the team so he can focus on his racing too.
More about AON Racing
We’re excited for the official AON Racing team announcement on 17 January 2025!
Sidenote: Will Wilson be racing on flat pedals? One can but hope.
