Elite men
Wow. Jordan Williams makes history as the first-ever rider to win their first DH World Cup in their first year as an elite. After jointly dominating the junior ranks with Jackson Goldstone and with both riders having posted elite-grade times while still junior, there was plenty of talk of either rider being in with a chance of the win here in Lenzerheide. While Goldstone was on a bit of a back foot after an emergency trip and stay in hospital last week for an appendix complication (he still finished sixth here – gulp), Williams was on fine form and kept a cool head in qualifying, semi-finals and finals to take the big win. Williams’ teammates Loic Bruni and Finn Iles also both had great rides to finish on the podium in third and fifth, with Loris Vergier in second and Laurie Greenland fourth.

Elite women
Rachel Atherton just stunned the world with a win in front of a whole new crowd of racers – the field has changed somewhat since her last full season in 2018 and the Achilles injury season in 2019. But a champion will always be a champion, and Atherton came into this event clearly motivated to push her limits and see if she could mix it with the current crop of top-tier racers. Second in qualifying and the same again in semi-finals proved she had the speed, and Atherton stepped it up a notch for finals to take the win in front of Camille Balanche, Nina Hoffmann, Vali Höll and Marine Cabirou in that order.
